About the position

The Department of Animal and Food Sciences at Oklahoma State University is seeking a faculty member for a 60% Extension and 40% teaching position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. The successful candidate will focus on developing impactful Extension programming for the meat industry, teaching meat science courses, and collaborating with industry and educators to enhance meat science opportunities. This position emphasizes excellence in Extension and teaching aligned with the land grant mission of the university.

Responsibilities

• Develop Extension programming impactful to the meat industry of Oklahoma, including processing and manufacturing.
• Lead and contribute to existing programming in producer, youth, and consumer meat education.
• Collaborate with Extension educators and industry to create and enhance opportunities in meat science.
• Teach meat science and processing courses to complement current curriculum offerings.
• Demonstrate ability to secure extramural funding.
• Serve industry organizations in Oklahoma and beyond.
• Work with industry partners to strengthen on-campus relationships.
• Contribute to other Departmental needs.
• Represent the Department at state, regional, and national meetings and conferences.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Animal, Meat, or Food Science or closely related field.
• Strong background in meat processing with an understanding of fresh and processed meat quality.
• Documented background of teaching experience and excellence in instruction in meat/food science.
• Commitment to Extension programming.
