About the position

The Assistant Superintendent for Multifamily Construction in Boston, MA, plays a crucial role in supporting the Superintendent in managing construction projects. This position involves overseeing compliance with contract documents, monitoring job progress, and ensuring quality control on-site. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining production documentation, addressing field conditions, and coaching field engineers, all while adhering to safety requirements and facilitating project closeout processes.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting contract and subcontract documents, drawings, and specifications under the direction of the Superintendent.
  • Check and verify subcontractor layout to ensure compliance with established control, line, and grade.
  • Monitor production and record rates in a logbook for future scheduling.
  • Maintain and update production documents daily to provide an accurate picture of work in place.
  • Report field conditions and issues to the Superintendent.
  • Monitor job progress on-site, ensuring compliance with contract documents and the Quality Control Program.
  • Work with the Superintendent to develop and execute the project work plan and schedule.
  • Plan and prepare documentation for the project closeout process as directed by the Superintendent.
  • Maintain and review safety requirements for the project, reporting deficiencies to the Superintendent and Safety Manager.
  • Coach field engineers to facilitate their skills development.
  • Assist in maintaining the Construction Management Plan and logistical coordination.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of superintendent experience in the commercial construction space.
  • Project experience in multifamily, mixed-use, or affordable housing is highly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with subcontractors and project team members.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment and multitask effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
