About the position

The NASA Engineering and Safety Center (NESC) is seeking a senior systems engineer to serve as an AST, Technical Management in the NESC Integration Office (NIO). This role involves coordinating NESC's involvement in major milestone reviews and technical exchange meetings, ensuring effective communication of program-related activities across the Space Operations Mission Directorate.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate NESC involvement in major milestone reviews and technical exchange meetings.
  • Ensure communication of program-related activities through program boards and panels.
  • Integrate essential NESC activities and facilitate communication within NESC assessments.
  • Provide technical integration for assigned programs and missions, specifically for the Space Operations Mission Directorate and Commercial Crew Program.
  • Lead NESC involvement with SOMD related assessments and ensure effective communication through various technical meetings.
  • Serve as a senior consultant on complex aerospace and aeronautical engineering problems.
  • Perform internal NIO systems engineering tasks, including preparing NESC submissions of assessment lessons learned.
  • Develop, analyze, and evaluate long-range plans for the NIO.
  • Implement policies to improve internal operations of the NESC.
  • Foster a culture of engagement, diversity, inclusiveness, excellence, and innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science, or Computer Science from an accredited institution.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-13 level, performing technical management functions supporting flight programs/projects.
  • Experience utilizing systematic processes and investigative techniques for problem-solving.
  • Technical advice on engineering project or program integration, addressing critical timelines, technical risk, resource allocation, or project performance.
  • For GS-15, one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-14 level, coordinating and leading cross-functional teams for flight programs/projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with the Commercial Crew Program (CCP) is highly preferred.
