About the position

The Astronaut Rescue & Recovery Operations Support Specialist at Alluvionic plays a crucial role in supporting astronaut rescue operations for NASA's Artemis and Commercial Crew Programs. This position involves collaboration with various military and space agencies to ensure effective search and rescue operations following astronaut landings, both nominal and contingency. The specialist will be responsible for developing training materials, coordinating rescue strategies, and providing expert advice to decision-makers during mission execution.

Responsibilities

• Support the employment of search and rescue aviation assets for astronaut recovery after Artemis or CCP landings.
• Collaborate with mission partners to integrate Air Force combat rescue tactics into astronaut rescue operations.
• Develop and update strategies for astronaut search and rescue plans and communications.
• Create training documents and processes for aircrews on astronaut rescue procedures.
• Facilitate training logistics and exercises at Johnson Space Center.
• Provide command and control recommendations for alert rescue forces.
• Assist in on-console activities at Mission Control Center during missions.

Requirements

• Top Secret/SCI Clearance
• Bachelor of Science degree
• 10+ years of experience in DoD Survival or Personnel Recovery training and operations
• Experience as a rated officer (pilot or navigator) or in Special Operations
• Expert knowledge of military combat aviation or ground rescue instructions and procedures
• Ability to work independently and manage complex problems effectively.

Nice-to-haves

• Previously served at the Joint Personnel Recovery Agency or similar organizations
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to interact effectively with military and interagency personnel.
