About the position

The ASUCD Applications Developer & Systems Administrator is responsible for managing a diverse range of IT systems that support over 30,000 undergraduate students at UC Davis. This role involves leading cloud-based software development and integration for various student-run units, ensuring essential services such as public transportation operate smoothly. The position encompasses technology support and staffing responsibilities, contributing significantly to the daily operations of ASUCD.

Responsibilities

  • Lead application development for ASUCD's IT systems.
  • Provide software support and troubleshooting for existing applications.
  • Manage inventory and support technology resources.
  • Develop and implement technology improvements and strategies for ASUCD.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with database structure and web application code for maintenance and enhancement.
  • Proficiency in web application development using frameworks like Django, Flask, React, Angular, PHP, .Net, Ruby.
  • Experience with Windows Active Directory Infrastructure and troubleshooting software/hardware issues.
  • In-depth knowledge of database administration using MySQL, Redis, Oracle, PostgreSQL.
  • Proficiency in developing and deploying applications using Python, PHP, .Net, and Ruby.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least three years of experience in systems administration and applications development.
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure and protocols (TCP/IP, SMTP, POP, DNS, HTTP, FTP).
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with diverse groups.
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows, Unix, and network security.
