About the position

The Support Specialist position at the ATC-12 Level En Route facility involves providing tactical, strategic, and administrative support across multiple program areas. This includes training, quality control, quality assurance, traffic management, airspace and procedures, plans and programs, operational automation, military operations, special and security operations, and safety management systems. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of the Air Traffic Control (ATC) field and familiarity with the integral components of the National Airspace System. Specialists in this role must apply their knowledge to analyze, evaluate, and develop new methods, studies, approaches, and procedures relevant to the ATC environment. Additionally, the Support Specialist must be well-versed in agency-wide programs, facility goals, and objectives, and possess the ability to communicate effectively, tailoring their message to the target audience. While not mandatory, experience with hardware and software is considered desirable. The position may require occasional travel for training or other work-related duties, although this is not a regular requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tactical, strategic, and administrative support for multiple program areas including training, quality control, and traffic management.
  • Analyze and evaluate new methods and procedures in the ATC field.
  • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, tailoring messages to the target audience.
  • Support operational automation and military operations as needed.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of safety management systems.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and registered with the Selective Service if applicable.
  • Must have held an FAA 2152-FG-14 or above position for at least one year, or been facility rated or area certified for at least one year in an ATS facility.
  • Must have held an MSS position for at least one year in an ATS facility if applicable.
  • Ability to apply comprehensive knowledge of the ATC field to various program areas.
