About the position

Athenix Solutions Group is seeking a skilled Database Developer to join our team in Chantilly, Virginia. This role is critical in supporting a large program that involves operations and maintenance (O&M) as well as database development for legacy databases. The successful candidate will work on systems including the enterprise API Gateway, Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), and new modern databases that align with the Sponsor's business data strategy. The Database Developer will be responsible for ensuring the sustainability and reliability of these mission-critical systems, which must operate without interruption and adhere to approved timelines for new development activities. In this position, the Database Developer will utilize existing enterprise services to avoid creating single-purpose solutions. They will ensure that each new application or system enhancement meets the agreed-upon performance Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for system uptime, concurrent users, and system recovery. Monitoring applications to provide status awareness and developing resolution plans in case of failures will be essential tasks. The role requires compliance with the Agile Development Framework and the ability to recommend changes to current applications and databases based on evolving requirements. The Database Developer will also be tasked with recommending modernization options for data hosting, transport, cleansing, exposure, and ingestion at an enterprise scale. This includes making recommendations focused on performance, security, and cost-effectiveness while managing large volumes of disparate datasets. The role involves managing instances of cloud infrastructure services and multiple cloud servers, as well as enhancing current data systems technology and processes. Additionally, the Database Developer will create functional design specifications and architectures, support cloud project deliverables, and continuously evaluate program progress. They will coordinate stakeholder engagements, define and analyze technical and functional requirements, and provide data architecture and integration support to identify enterprise data needs. Participation in daily scrum meetings and providing project management support to the Sponsor Software Development Lifecycle process are also key responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Use existing enterprise services rather than building single-purpose solutions.
• Ensure each new application or system enhancement meets agreed upon performance Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for system up-time, concurrent users, and system recovery.
• Monitor each application to provide status awareness and include a resolution plan for the application in the event of its failure.
• Comply with Agile Development Framework.
• Recommend changes to current applications and databases based on requirements.
• Recommend modernization options for data hosting, data transport, data cleansing, data exposure and data ingestion at an enterprise scale.
• Make recommendations for modernization with a focus on performance, security, and cost, with the flexibility to store and manage large volumes of disparate, enterprise datasets while identifying the authoritative dataset and reducing dataset duplication.
• Manage instances of cloud infrastructure services and multiple cloud servers.
• Manage enhancements and improvements to current data systems technology and processes, including data access authorizations against enterprise-approved user attributes and solutions with oversight.
• Create functional design specifications, architectures, and render support with other cloud project deliverables.
• Continuously evaluate program progress and evaluate incoming information to ensure the program is progressing on schedule.
• Coordinate stakeholder engagements, such as user requirements sessions and training.
• Define, analyze, track, review and categorize technical and functional requirements.
• Support tasks requiring collecting, compiling, evaluating, and publishing information and statistical data included in documents, records, forms, reports, plans, policies and regulations.
• Interface with stakeholders to ensure user stories are accurately and properly documented.
• Provide frequent contact with customers, traceability within program documents, and the overall computing environment and architecture.
• Provide data architecture, analyst, and integration support to identify the enterprise data needs and design master ‘blueprints', to include alignment to customer's systems, data investments, business strategy for Sponsor consideration, and data access governance as directed by multiple functional data stewards.
• Participate in daily scrum meetings.
• Provide operations and maintenance of databases in the cloud infrastructure.
• Provide project management support to the Sponsor Software Development Lifecycle process.

Requirements

• Active Clearance: TS/SCI with Polygraph is required.
• Demonstrated experience utilizing Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
• Demonstrated experience with Tableau and COGNOS for reporting presentation.
• Demonstrated experience developing and interfacing with Application Program Interfaces (APIs).
• Demonstrated experience performing testing and quality assurance of developed solutions within the existing Oracle data tier.
• Demonstrated experience developing, creating, and modifying data structure and data load routines for analytic use cases.
• Demonstrated experience working with relational data tiers including cleansing, transforming, and processing of structured data.
• Demonstrated experience developing and supporting applications using Java, JavaScript, and Python.
• Demonstrated experience working with views, triggers and Oracle PL and SQL.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Amazon Web Services environments, including RDS, S3, etc.
• Demonstrated experience working within an Agile project management model.
