About the position

We are seeking a Hardware Engineer to support the design and development of complex computing systems crucial for the defense of our nation. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including performing end-to-end system hardware architectural design tailored to specific customer requirements such as power, space, cooling, and overall system functionality. The engineer will be tasked with integrating various system components, including servers, network switches, GPS and timing devices, digitizers, and network storage devices, ensuring that all elements work seamlessly together to meet mission needs. In addition to hardware design, the role involves conducting end-to-end network systems engineering, collaborating with vendors to identify new requirements and achieve mission objectives. The engineer will also be responsible for higher-level network design using Cisco technologies, creating essential documentation such as Power Space and Cooling (PSC) plans, Build of Material (BOM) lists, and Baseline Exception Requirements (BER) to facilitate equipment procurement. The position requires expertise in designing complex network core cabling integration and infrastructure cabling between racks, ensuring that all configurations and changes are accurately reflected in drafter packages. The engineer will integrate equipment from various vendors, including Cisco, HP, Dell, and IBM, and perform quality assurance on all systems procurement to ensure compliance with build standards. Moreover, the engineer will manage in-house Drawing Configuration Management, utilizing tools like ACAD or Visio for 2D drawing tasks and maintaining Level II drawings and facility layouts. Responsibilities also include researching new technologies, tracking documentation deliveries, and providing drawing packages to appropriate repositories. The engineer will create custom fabrication component drawings for vendor bid submittals and develop automation processes for tracking components associated with Floor Plans, Rack Elevations, and Cable databases. Additionally, the role involves receiving and reviewing quotes from vendors and resellers, creating rack elevations, and updating build cable run lists for team usage.
