About the position

The Athletic Coach - Girls Assistant Soccer at Landmark Middle School is responsible for administering all aspects of the soccer program within the guidelines of the Florida High School Athletics Association and the National Federation of High Schools. This part-time position involves enforcing training rules, supervising players, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The coach will also engage in professional development and support the overall athletic program.

Responsibilities

  • Announce and enforce rules pertaining to conditioning of players and training rules affecting health and safety.
  • Attend mandatory FHSAA rules clinics and Gateway Conference meetings, and continue professional development by attending coaching clinics.
  • Cooperate with the athletic director to establish physical examinations and verify that candidates complete necessary health forms before participation.
  • Conduct and supervise at least one fundraising activity for the sport.
  • Ensure team supervision at all times, including locker room supervision and post-practice pick-up of athletes.
  • Know and enforce rules and regulations required by Title IX, FHSAA, and the Duval County School Board.
  • Monitor academic progress of each team member weekly.
  • Organize practice and game responsibilities, providing clear duties for coaching staff.
  • Report injuries to the athletic trainer and complete necessary forms for serious injuries, securing medical approval for return to play.
  • Support and actively participate in improving the athletic program and the overall educational program of the schools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Previous experience preferred as an athletic coach or in the coaching arena
  • Completion of required athletic coaching courses including First Aid, CPR, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, and Concussion in Sports (NFHS courses)
  • AED training
  • Florida Department of Education Certificate (Athletic Coaching)
  • Knowledge of the sport and associated strategies
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong creative problem-solving skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to conduct staff meetings and manage all tryouts, practices, team meetings, and athletic contests for the sport
  • Ability to be a role model for student-athletes and motivate them to perform their best.

Benefits

  • Part-time position with a pay of up to $761 a week
