About the position

Shoreline Christian School, located north of Seattle, is seeking a full-time Athletic Director/K-8 PE teacher for the 2024-25 school year. This is a unique opportunity to help students develop physically and discover their unique talents. The Athletic Director will hold immediate oversight responsibilities for the athletic program in consultation with the Head of School. This role involves managing personnel, budget, scheduling, and programmatic functions in collaboration with other staff and oversight from the Head of School. As a community with a shared state of faith, an active, intentional, and embodied Christian faith is essential. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check and all other state requirements for private schools. The primary working relationships will be with students, collaborating with the administrative team, and working with AD staff from surrounding schools. The Athletic Director's responsibilities include overseeing and administering the SCS athletic program, knowing and implementing school policies and WIAA regulations, representing the school at league, district, and state athletic meetings, advising the Head of School on facility repairs and unsafe conditions, managing athletic supplies and equipment, maintaining records of student eligibility, staffing and evaluating coaches, facilitating communication regarding athletic contests, implementing the school's conduct policy, arranging supervision during practices and games, holding a First Aid card, and providing appropriate game staff at home and away games. Other duties may be assigned by the Head of School. As a PE teacher, the responsibilities include planning and leading PE lessons for students ranging from K-8th grade, involving students in a variety of physical activities, introducing specific skills and sports, encouraging physical activity, providing accommodations for students with emotional or physical limitations, and maintaining grade books and report cards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and administer the SCS athletic program.
  • Know, observe, explain, and implement school policies and WIAA regulations positively to parents and/or students.
  • Represent the school at league, district, and state athletic meetings.
  • Implement and suggest improvements to the school's athletic program.
  • Advise the Head of School of needed repairs and unsafe conditions of facilities.
  • Account for school athletic supplies and equipment and work with the bookkeeper on the athletic budget and coaching salaries.
  • Maintain records of student eligibility and participation according to guidelines.
  • Work with school administration in staffing and evaluating coaches.
  • Facilitate communication between school and home regarding athletic contests and participation.
  • Implement the school's conduct policy.
  • Arrange for supervision of participants during practice and game activities.
  • Hold and maintain a First Aid card.
  • Provide appropriate game staff at home and away games/matches.
  • Plan and lead PE lessons for K-8 students.
  • Involve students in a variety of physical activities.
  • Introduce students to specific skills and sports.
  • Encourage students to be physically active.
  • Provide accommodations for students with limitations to full participation.
  • Keep grade book and complete report cards.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated Christian commitment and relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Active involvement in a local church.
  • Experience in managing athletic programs and budgets.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and students.
  • Strong communication skills with parents and students.
  • Knowledge of WIAA regulations and school policies.
  • Experience in teaching physical education to K-8 students.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in coaching or athletic administration.
