About the position

The position is designed to create and implement a flexible program and classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and personal growth. The individual in this role will be responsible for developing lesson plans that align with established guidelines and ensuring that they meet the diverse needs of students. Establishing effective rapport with students, staff members, and parents is crucial, as is motivating students to develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge necessary for a solid educational foundation, tailored to each student's abilities. In terms of instructional responsibilities, the educator will present subject matter to students in a way that maximizes learning opportunities. This includes reviewing student records to understand each student's abilities and needs, striving to enhance educational achievement, and demonstrating a variety of learning modalities in lessons. The educator will frequently assess student strengths and weaknesses, provide appropriate activities to address these needs, and generate progress reports as required. Additionally, the role involves referring students with suspected learning problems to the appropriate support personnel, assigning lessons, correcting student work, and coordinating class field trips. Creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning is another essential duty. This includes ensuring that the classroom is clean, safe, and displays student-generated work appropriately. The educator will implement relevant policies governing student conduct and develop reasonable rules for classroom and playground behavior, maintaining order in a fair and consistent manner. The position also requires instructional planning, where the educator will develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines and goals, plan individual and group learning activities, and prepare for classes as assigned. Participation in curriculum planning with other staff members during designated meetings is expected, as well as incorporating diagnostic information required in students' Individual Education Plans (IEPs). The educator must take necessary precautions to protect supplies, equipment, materials, and facilities needed for effective instruction. In terms of school and community relations, the educator will strive to establish cooperative relations and communicate effectively with parents and guardians. Clear, consistent, and positive communication with parents through various mediums is essential, as is cooperation with administration and other staff members.
