About the position

The Athletic Director at Catholic Charities Corporation is responsible for overseeing the administration of all Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) programs and sports, catering to participants from grade school through adulthood. This role requires the integration of a faith perspective to foster a Christian environment within all CYO athletic programs. The Athletic Director will work to build a culture that embodies Catholic values, ensuring that all programs adhere to the CYO Athletic Charter and Bylaws. The position involves developing and implementing effective administrative procedures for CYO programs, ensuring compliance with Catholic Charities' policies and procedures, and continuously evaluating and improving program operations. In addition to administrative responsibilities, the Athletic Director will be tasked with selecting and implementing a sports management technology system for program administration, team registration, and scheduling. Collaboration with the Catholic Charities IT department is essential to assess software needs for data collection, reporting, and analysis, as well as for virtual training modules. The role also includes managing incidents through an incident management system and evaluating the effectiveness of various training programs for coaches and site personnel. The Athletic Director will design and implement a Volunteer Management System for administrative tasks and program operations, coordinate facility scheduling for all sports, and develop tools for gathering feedback from constituents. A key aspect of the role is to integrate analytics and statistical reports into program planning, ensuring that all CYO programs align with the mission and values of Catholic Charities and the Cleveland diocese.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure CYO programs animate the mission and values of Catholic Charities, CYO and Cleveland diocese.
  • Develop and implement effective administrative procedures for all CYO programs.
  • Assure compliance with Catholic Charities system administrative requirements and priorities in CYO.
  • Examine, analyze, and evaluate CYO programs and operations for continuous growth and improvement.
  • Build a Catholic culture for athletes, coaches, officials, and families according to the CYO Charter & Bylaws.
  • Select and implement a sports management technology system for CYO program administration, team registration, and scheduling.
  • Work with the Catholic Charities IT department to evaluate software program needs for efficiency improvements.
  • Manage and resolve incidents through the incident management system.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement in-person and virtual trainings for various CYO programs.
  • Design, direct, and implement a Volunteer Management System for CYO administrative tasks and operations.
  • Coordinate and implement a contest and Facility Scheduling System for all sports and programs.
  • Design surveys and evaluation tools to gather program feedback from constituents.
  • Develop and implement a quality management system to meet Catholic Charities Quality Management requirements.
  • Gather data and compute statistics across all sports and programs for analytical reporting.
  • Develop and implement a year-round sports rule changes framework with timely communication of changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field with three to five years of post-degree experience in athletics, coaching, and/or recreational activities.
  • Four to five years' experience in administering athletics-related programs.
  • Working knowledge of administrative and information management systems to achieve program goals.
  • Strong people and team member skills to work with diverse individuals, both professional and volunteer.
  • Relationship and facilitation skills to form effective partnerships within Catholic Charities and with other organizations.
  • Ability to manage concurrent and competing demands while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
  • Skills to implement administrative systems and resolve conflicts.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, with availability for emergencies and crisis intervention.
  • Working knowledge of the Catholic Church and ability to work with parishes and schools.
  • Strong technical skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office and program-specific software.
