About the position

The R.O.C.K. (Reflections Of Christ's Kingdom) World Outreach International is seeking an Athletic Director to lead and enhance our church's athletic programs. This full-time position is pivotal in coordinating various athletic activities, including intramural sports, league play, and specialized programs for children, youth, and young adults. The Athletic Director will be responsible for the overall management of these programs, ensuring they align with the church's mission of fostering spiritual, physical, and emotional well-being within our community. In this role, the Athletic Director will design, implement, and oversee athletic programs tailored to different age groups, ensuring a diverse range of sports offerings that cater to various skill levels and interests. The director will also be tasked with organizing and scheduling intramural sports activities and events to encourage participation from the congregation. Leadership is a key component of this position, as the director will recruit, train, and supervise coaches, volunteers, and program coordinators, fostering a positive and encouraging environment for all involved. Financial management is another critical aspect of the role. The Athletic Director will prepare and manage budgets for all athletic programs, ensuring financial responsibility and alignment with the church's goals. This includes conducting financial analysis and reporting to monitor program costs and revenues, as well as seeking funding opportunities through grants and community partnerships. Community engagement is essential, and the Athletic Director will work to foster relationships with congregation members and community stakeholders to promote and enhance athletic programs. This includes coordinating outreach efforts to attract new participants and representing the church's athletic programs at community events. The position also involves overseeing the maintenance and scheduling of sports facilities and equipment, ensuring they meet safety and operational standards. The Athletic Director will develop and implement communication strategies to promote athletic programs through various channels, providing clear and timely information to participants and families. Regular assessment and evaluation of the programs will be necessary to ensure their effectiveness and to implement improvements based on participant feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and oversee athletic programs for various age groups, including children, youth, young adults, and church league play.
  • Organize and schedule intramural sports activities and events to encourage congregational participation.
  • Ensure a variety of sports offerings that cater to different skill levels and interests.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise coaches, volunteers, and program coordinators.

  • Develop and enforce guidelines and standards for safety, conduct, and program excellence.
  • Prepare and manage budgets for all athletic programs, ensuring financial responsibility and alignment with the church's goals.
  • Conduct financial analysis and reporting to monitor program costs, revenues, and financial health.
  • Seek funding opportunities through grants, sponsorships, and community partnerships.
  • Foster relationships with congregation members, participants, and community stakeholders to promote and enhance athletic programs.

  • Represent the church's athletic programs at community events and networking opportunities.
  • Oversee the maintenance, scheduling, and use of sports facilities and equipment.

  • Regularly assess and evaluate the effectiveness of athletic programs.
  • Engage participants and families for feedback and implement necessary improvements.
  • Stay updated on trends and best practices in sports and recreation management to continually enhance program offerings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in athletic program management, preferably within a church or nonprofit context.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage sports programs for various age groups.
  • Strong financial management skills with experience in budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of The R.O.C.K, with a heart for community service and engagement.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
