About the position

The Athletic Director at Highlander Charter School is responsible for overseeing and managing the athletics programming at the district level. This part-time role involves coordinating various aspects of athletic events, ensuring compliance with district policies, and supporting coaches and student-athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare a master sports calendar for games/events.
  • Secure and file the paperwork for equipment lease requests involving the athletic department.
  • Familiarize with gym, building, and athletic field use.
  • Coordinate gym use for practices and games with the Building Manager and provide final clearance for use.
  • Work with coaching staff and Building Manager to secure transportation for athletic departure times and provide bus drivers with trip sheets.
  • Confirm officials contracts and all non-conference contest contracts.
  • Secure game workers for athletic contests, including clock operators, scorekeepers, and line judges.
  • Submit athletic expense request sheets for payment of officials and other workers to the district office.
  • Act as a resource person and coordinator for all coaches.
  • Maintain First Aid/CPR and Concussion Training records for all coaches.
  • Assist in supervision at home athletic contests.
  • Assist in the selection of coaches for the athletic program and/or possibly serve as a coach.
  • Evaluate all athletic programs on an annual basis and make recommendations for improvement to the building principal and district administrator.
  • Review/update the Athletic Handbook annually.
  • Administer the school athletic code in a fair and consistent manner that is within the intent of the code.
  • Ensure district adherence to all OSAA and district policies, administrative rules, procedures, and codes relating to participation in athletics.
  • Manage inventories, orders, and stocks supplies.
  • Evaluate student injuries, determine course of action, perform minor first aid in compliance with District policies, and complete required paperwork in a timely fashion.

  • CPR Certification
  • Experience in managing athletic programs
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with coaches and staff
  • Knowledge of OSAA and district policies regarding athletics
