About the position

The Athletic Program Director is responsible for overseeing sports programs and activities, focusing on student development and fostering a love for sports. This role involves program development, event coordination, staff management, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement athletic programs that promote teamwork, skill development, and sportsmanship
• Coordinate and schedule athletic events, practices, and competitions
• Recruit, train, and supervise coaching staff
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards
• Manage budgets for athletic programs and facilities
• Collaborate with administration, club staff, parents, and community members to support athletic initiatives
• Provide mentorship and guidance to student-athletes

Requirements

• Four-year degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience in Physical Education or similar
• Previous experience in sports coaching or athletic administration
• Knowledge of a variety of sports such as basketball, soccer, flag football, cheerleading, etc.
• Ability to educate and motivate students in physical education and sportsmanship
• Experience working with students in an educational setting
• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• Valid NYS driver's license and transportation
