About the position

The Athletic Trainer position at Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center involves supporting physicians and mid-level providers in various clinical settings, including hospitals and the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) department. The role focuses on patient care, including fitting and educating patients on DME, managing patient records, and ensuring compliance with insurance requirements. The position is per diem (PRN) with a minimum commitment of 24 hours per month, offering flexibility in scheduling.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians and mid-level providers in the clinic and hospital settings.
  • Fit and educate patients on Durable Medical Equipment (DME) as prescribed by the physician.
  • Apply and remove casts and splints, and provide patient education on DME.
  • Coordinate and advise on all aspects of the DME program, including insurance and billing.
  • Ensure proper patient forms are complete and entered into the computer system.
  • Check EMR for progress notes and prepare charge tickets.
  • Obtain authorizations from insurance companies for DME.
  • Schedule DME appointments and send referrals to vendors based on insurance restrictions.
  • Maintain cleanliness of clinical areas and restock supplies within budgetary constraints.
  • Assist in daily office routines and provide backup coverage when needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field from an accredited program.
  • Current license issued by the Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy/Athletic Training (OTPTAT) Board to practice Athletic Training in Ohio.
  • Certified by the Board of Certification (BOC), Inc. for Athletic Trainers preferred.
  • BLS certification required.
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience as an Athletic Trainer or in a related field preferred.
