About the position

The Athletic Trainer Certified position at SMO Raymond Park Middle School is a full-time role dedicated to providing exceptional care to athletes and active individuals. The primary responsibilities include preventing, assessing, and treating emergency, acute, and chronic injuries. The trainer will also focus on reconditioning athletes and active individuals after injury to prevent recurrence, impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities. This position is situated within a middle or high school setting, emphasizing the importance of understanding the developmental needs of children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. The role requires effective communication with various stakeholders, including staff, peers, patients, families, and physicians, ensuring that quality care is delivered in a compassionate manner. The trainer will work Monday through Friday from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with some evenings and Saturdays, totaling 40 hours a week and 80 hours bi-weekly. The position is part of the Warren Township School District and offers a chance to make a significant impact in the community by providing essential health services to students and athletes. Responsibilities

  • Prevent, assess, and treat emergency, acute, and chronic injuries.
  • Recondition athletes and active individuals after injury to prevent injury recurrence, impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities.
  • Provide quality care and service to appropriate patients in a middle or high school setting.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, peers, patients, families, physicians, and all internal/external customers.
  • Adapt to ever-changing work conditions and incorporate a basic understanding of the behaviors and needs of various patient demographics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited program in athletic training.
  • Current or temporary Indiana license, with a pending license to be obtained within 45 days of start date.
  • Current Board of Certification (BOC), Inc. Athletic Training certification.
  • Knowledgeable in anatomy/physiology, current treatment techniques, and functional progressions.
  • Ability to effectively provide quality care and service to appropriate patients.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to lift/transfer patients or treatment supply items without restriction.
  • Upper extremity strength and manual dexterity needed for writing, treatment modalities, and equipment operation.
  • Ability to organize responsibilities and set priorities.
  • Ability to function independently and make sound decisions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience as an athletic trainer may be preferred.
