About the position

The Athletic Trainer Certified position at SMO Raymond Park Middle School is a full-time role dedicated to the prevention, assessment, and treatment of emergency, acute, and chronic injuries among athletes and active individuals. This position is crucial in reconditioning athletes post-injury to prevent recurrence, functional limitations, and disabilities. The primary duties will be performed in a middle or high school setting, specifically at Raymond Park Middle School, where the trainer will work closely with students, coaches, and other staff to ensure the health and safety of the athletes. The role requires a commitment to providing exceptional care, utilizing state-of-the-art technology, and engaging with the community through volunteer opportunities and benefits initiatives. The trainer will be expected to work Monday through Friday from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with some evenings and Saturdays, totaling 40 hours a week and 80 hours bi-weekly. The position is also eligible for hiring bonuses and other benefits, emphasizing the organization's commitment to its caregivers and the community it serves.

Responsibilities

  • Prevent, assess, and treat emergency, acute, and chronic injuries.
  • Recondition athletes and active individuals after injury to prevent injury recurrence.
  • Provide quality care and service to appropriate patients in a school setting.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, peers, patients, families, physicians, and all internal/external customers.
  • Organize responsibilities and set priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Function independently and make sound decisions regarding patient care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited program in athletic training.
  • Current or temporary Indiana license, with a pending license to be obtained within 45 days of start date.
  • Current Board of Certification (BOC), Inc. Athletic Training certification.
  • Knowledgeable in anatomy/physiology, current treatment techniques, and functional progressions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders including athletes, patients, and staff.
  • Ability to lift/transfer patients or treatment supply items without restriction.
  • Upper extremity strength and manual dexterity for writing and equipment operation.
  • Ability to adapt to ever-changing work conditions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience as an athletic trainer may be preferred.
