About the position

The Athletic Trainer at Harrison Middle & High School will play a crucial role in the health and safety of student athletes by providing comprehensive athletic training services. This position involves daily after-school visits throughout the academic year, ensuring that both middle school and high school athletes receive the necessary care and support. The trainer will be responsible for evaluating injuries, providing immediate care, and following the guidelines set by the National Athletic Trainers Association to ensure the well-being of the athletes. In addition to routine visits, the athletic trainer will provide event coverage for various athletic events and community activities, assisting in the clinic as needed. This role requires effective communication and cooperation with patients, school associates, athletes, co-workers, and medical staff to ensure client satisfaction with the services provided by Mercy's outreach program. The trainer will also be expected to maintain their competency through participation in continuing education and in-service training, meeting all required standards for competency reviews. The position offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus and is a full-time role, requiring 40 hours of work per week, primarily in the afternoons and evenings. The athletic trainer will be an integral part of the Sports Medicine department, contributing to the overall health and performance of student athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily after school visits to Harrison Middle & High School throughout the year.
  • Evaluate athletic injuries and provide immediate care as per the guidelines of the National Athletic Trainers Association.
  • Assist in the referral of injured athletes to appropriate services, such as orthotics.
  • Provide event coverage for athletic events and community activities as outlined in the contract.
  • Communicate and cooperate with patients, school associates, athletes, co-workers, and medical staff to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Participate in continuing education and in-service training to maintain competency.

Requirements

  • 4 year bachelor degree in athletic training.
  • Licensed in Athletic Training by the state of Ohio.
  • AHA CPR certification.
