About the position

The Sports Team Athletic Trainer at Mercy Health is responsible for providing daily medical coverage for athletic practices and events at various educational institutions. This role involves evaluating, treating, preventing, and rehabilitating injuries, as well as managing medical emergencies. The trainer will also engage in community events and provide educational programming for coaches, athletes, and parents.

Responsibilities

• Provide athletic injury evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitative services to injured athletes according to established policies and procedures.
• Administer emergency medical services for injured athletes, including care for unstable fractures and traumatic brain injuries.
• Manage and coordinate injury prevention programming for athletes.
• Communicate injury status to coaches, parents, and team physicians.
• Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation of injury evaluations and treatments.
• Coordinate referrals to appropriate specialists to ensure continuity of care.
• Maintain competency through continuing education and skills review.

Requirements

• Valid Certified Athletic Trainer certification from NATA BOC.
• Current Athletic Trainer license in the state of practice.
• Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training (required).
• Master's degree in Athletic Training (preferred).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves
