About the position

The University of Nevada, Reno Athletics Department is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer to join the Sports Medicine team. This role is essential for providing first aid, injury prevention, evaluation, management, rehabilitation, and referrals for athletic injuries and illnesses among Division I student-athletes. The position involves both direct care during practices and events, as well as administrative responsibilities related to athletic training facilities and student-athlete support.

Responsibilities

  • Perform first aid and manage athletic injuries and illnesses for student-athletes.
  • Provide preventative care and coverage for scheduled practices and events.
  • Maintain electronic medical records and coordinate summer camps and medical coverage.
  • Assist in the operation of athletic training facilities and administer drug testing.
  • Manage insurance and injury tracking programs, and conduct pre-participation physicals.
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate athletic training students.
  • Support nutrition and mental health programming for student-athletes.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree and one year of related work experience; OR a Bachelor's degree and two years of related work experience.
  • Certification by National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATABOC).
  • First aid and CPR certification.
  • Must be licensed in the State of Nevada or obtain within the first 6 months of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience managing or assisting with athletic training/sports medicine facilities.
  • Knowledge of nutrition and mental health programming for athletes.
