About the position

The Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing day-to-day medical coverage in a high school outreach setting, ensuring the health and safety of athletes through preventative measures, immediate care procedures, and rehabilitation. This role involves collaboration with the Sports Medicine Team and requires effective communication with athletes, coaches, and medical professionals to facilitate optimal care and return-to-play decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide athletic training services to high schools and community sporting events.
  • Deliver acute medical care to athletes during practices or sporting events.
  • Perform clinical injury evaluation and assessment of patients' levels of function.
  • Determine appropriate therapeutic treatment and provide rehabilitation and reconditioning strategies.
  • Maintain daily records of treatment logs, injury reports, and medical inventory management.
  • Assist with planning and compliance of departmental policies and Emergency Action Plans.
  • Mentor and manage on-site education of students in athletic training programs.
  • Develop a physician referral network for athletes needing further medical care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in athletic training from a CAATE-accredited program (Master's preferred).
  • Current athletic training certification by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC).
  • Licensed or eligible for a State of North Carolina License in Athletic Training within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to complete BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Experience as a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer is preferred.
