About the position

The Athletic Trainer at JAG Physical Therapy provides essential athletic training services and administrative support to organizations through injury assessment, rehabilitation, and educational outreach. This role ensures compliance with professional standards while collaborating with various stakeholders, including physicians, to create safe environments and effective training programs.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain an effective athletic training program for the contracted JAG PT organization.
  • Provide athletic trainer services for athletic events and competitions.
  • Administer first aid and injury assessment/treatment/rehabilitation/reconditioning for athletes.
  • Document injury, illness, treatment, and rehabilitation in adherence to JAG PT policy and state standards.
  • Create a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks.
  • Provide in-services and educational programs on health and fitness to local schools, coaches, athletes, and communities.
  • Act as the workers' compensation case manager for contracted teams, submitting insurance information and tracking claims.
  • Utilize effective communication skills to involve athletes and families in the plan of care.
  • Collaborate with other JAG PT professionals in programs such as Physical Therapy and physician-related services.
  • Assist with departmental administrative duties and daily operations when not at assigned outreach location.
  • Oversee the ordering of athletic trainer supplies and equipment, maintaining an up-to-date inventory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE Approved program.
  • Completion of the BOC certification and maintenance of 50 CEUs per certification period.
  • Licensed in the state of practice as an Athletic Trainer.
  • Department of Education (DOE) clearance if working in secondary schools.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Maintain Personal Liability Insurance.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to adjust to fluid situations.
