About the position

The Atlanta's Outdoor Classroom Environmental Educator position at the University of Georgia's Fortson 4-H Center involves teaching environmental education to students and adults in a natural setting. The role focuses on providing hands-on learning experiences in various ecological topics while managing groups and maintaining facilities. Responsibilities

• Teach hands-on day and evening classes to 3rd-8th grade students and chaperoning adults.
• Manage student and adult groups during educational programs.
• Assist with dorm cleaning 2-3 times a week.
• Help with meal service in the dining hall.
• Maintain teaching facilities and supplies.
• Provide animal husbandry for residential education animals.
• Operate UGA vehicles for outreach programs.
• Participate in various maintenance projects on the center as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in education or science preferred.
• 1-2 years of experience working with students in a summer camp, traditional, nontraditional, or outdoor education setting (recommended but not required).
• Strong passion for education and youth development.
• Effective communication skills and a positive attitude.
