About the position

The Business Development Manager (BDM) at Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits is a pivotal role responsible for managing and strategically growing the company's business through influential leadership. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about driving revenue and enhancing profitability within the wine and spirits distribution industry. The BDM will be accountable for achieving revenue, margin, and gross profit targets as set by the Sales Director, ensuring that the company's financial goals are met and exceeded. In this role, the BDM will communicate the effectiveness of local program spending to maximize the company's profits and will be tasked with determining the return on investment (ROI) for outlined focused initiatives. The BDM will also be responsible for accurately analyzing and projecting quarterly and monthly business for their assigned territory, providing strategic insights that will guide decision-making processes. Additionally, the BDM will play a crucial role in conflict resolution, helping to remove performance obstacles and address relationship concerns among key accounts in the region. By identifying market trends and developments in product categories and geographic regions, the BDM will ensure that they remain at the forefront of the competition, positioning Southern Glazer's as a leader in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for achieving revenue, margin, and gross profit targets as set by the Sales Director.
  • Communicate local program spending effectiveness to maximize the company's profits and determine the ROI on outlined focused initiatives.
  • Responsible for accurately analyzing and projecting quarterly and monthly business for assigned territory.
  • Strategically provide the team with conflict resolution, removal of performance obstacles, and/or relationship concerns among key accounts in the region.
  • Identify market trends and developments in product categories, geographic regions, and among the entire account base.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field or 3-5 years of industry related sales experience.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a dependable vehicle, valid driver's license, proof of state registration and insurance, and an acceptable driving record.
  • Manage and stay within a budget that may be assigned on behalf of the company.
  • Possess a clear understanding of financial acumen.
  • Ability to analyze data available to anticipate potential issues and proactively address them.
  • Strong communication, organization, and commercial planning capabilities.
  • Proficiency in using Business Intelligence software such as Compass, Diver, Excel and/or Proof.
  • Ability to understand supplier strategies and capability of aligning with internal and external teams.
