About the position

The ATO Technical Practice Director - Construction Management is responsible for leading the Construction Management Practice Teams at Atlas, ensuring the delivery of technical excellence and client satisfaction. This role involves overseeing performance metrics, staff development, and quality management while collaborating with various teams to support business growth and operational efficiency. The TPD will also engage in marketing and business development efforts, maintain strong relationships within the organization, and contribute to the continuous improvement of practices and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure utilization in the Construction Management Practice meets targets by coordinating with the Construction Management Practice Team and Expert Group leads across Atlas.
  • Ensure technical services, projects, and programs support delivery of Atlas key performance metrics (Revenue, EBITDA, Sales).
  • Provide leadership and oversight of overall Practice project staffing assignments.
  • Ensure staff development across Practice through training, mentoring, and technical project assignments.
  • Measure and manage the quality performance of the Practice by developing key performance measures to assess client satisfaction.
  • Participate and support marketing and/or business development opportunities for the Practice.
  • Attend and participate in national professional societies for the Practice.
  • Develop and manage risk management strategies for the performance of the Practice.
  • Maintain strong and positive working relationships with the Practice, other ATO Technical Practice Directors, Office Leads, Management, and Senior Leadership.
  • Develop a Quality Management System for the Practice and implement lessons-learned for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with other Practice Directors to develop Standard Operating Procedures for the Practice.
  • Engage with other ATO practices and the ATO Technology Director to champion the use of technology within the Practice.
  • Review and contribute to Atlas Strategy to guide the growth of the Construction Management Practice.
  • Lead and implement recruiting and retention strategies for the Practice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in related Science or Engineering practice.
  • Professional licensing and certifications in construction engineering, management, and inspection services, or similar.
  • 10 or more years of progressively responsible technical experience, management, and leadership of deliverables and/or projects in the Practice.
  • Knowledge and experience leading, developing, and managing technical staff within construction engineering, management, and inspection services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate across all levels of Atlas.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and results-driven with the ability to organize priorities and multi-task effectively.
  • Proven problem-solving skills in demanding situations.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment with internal and external clients.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, Project, and PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Teams (Channels, SharePoint).
