About the position

The Attitude Determination and Control System (ADCS) Engineer at Lynk will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, and optimization of satellite attitude determination and control systems for a constellation of small satellites. This position involves working across electrical, mechanical, and software engineering domains to enhance the satellite ADCS architecture and ensure effective performance of the satellite systems.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, implement, optimize, and enhance satellite attitude determination and control systems.
  • Evolve Lynk's satellite ADCS architecture including components and systems for attitude measurements.
  • Refine the Concept of Operations for satellite attitude determination and control systems.
  • Interface with Systems Engineering to inform constellation/network architecture based on ADCS performance.
  • Support development of the 6 DOF simulation for ADCS evaluation.
  • Perform analyses to determine satellite ADCS component performance requirements.
  • Specify, evaluate, and select satellite attitude determination sensors and effectors.
  • Determine sensor and effector types, number, and placement on spacecraft.
  • Design and implement algorithms and software for various pointing modes and attitude control scenarios.
  • Perform integration and testing of satellite ADCS components and software.
  • Design and plan payload testing configurations for ground and in-orbit performance testing.
  • Support satellite integration, testing, and delivery to launch provider.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for satellite ADCS architecture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in physics, engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with satellite attitude determination and/or control systems.
  • Recent participation in projects developing space hardware and software, preferably in satellite ADCS.
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with satellite ADCS components such as IMUs, magnetometers, star trackers, and reaction wheels.
  • Knowledge of flight guidance navigation and control systems and software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of satellite propulsion systems and trajectory planning is a plus.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Rust, C, Python, MATLAB, etc.
  • Proficient in working with Linux-based systems.
  • Hands-on experience with programming microcontrollers is desired.
  • Fluent in Linux, Windows, and MacOSX; capable with Microsoft Office.
