About the position

The Attorney 16 position in the Financial Crimes Division focuses on prosecuting complex white-collar crimes, particularly in the recreational and medical marihuana industries. This advanced role requires handling sensitive legal assignments, guiding less experienced attorneys, and managing a significant caseload with substantial independence. The attorney will navigate various legal issues, prepare legal documents, and conduct criminal prosecutions in state courts, while also mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities

  • Handle complex legal assignments related to financial crimes.
  • Prosecute cases involving recreational and medical marihuana industries.
  • Manage a larger and more complex caseload with substantial independence.
  • Guide and mentor less experienced attorneys.
  • Prepare pleadings and develop legal strategies for criminal prosecutions.
  • Authorize investigative subpoenas and search warrants under supervision.
  • Draft formal and informal legal opinions.
  • Conduct routine and complex criminal prosecutions in state courts.

Requirements

  • Possession of a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law.
  • Four years of post-bar admission legal experience.
  • Membership in good standing in the Michigan State Bar.
