About the position

The Attorney - Advisor (CLC Attorney) position at the Federal Bureau of Prisons involves providing legal support and guidance within the Consolidated Legal Center at the Federal Transit Center in Oklahoma City. The role focuses on correctional and constitutional law, addressing various legal issues related to inmate rights and conditions of confinement. The attorney will prepare litigation reports, pleadings, and provide legal advice to staff while also representing the Bureau of Prisons in court as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide litigation support to U.S. Attorneys' Offices for inmate litigation.
  • Prepare litigation reports and pleadings for cases against staff and the United States.
  • Advise and guide correctional facility staff, including executive members.
  • Communicate with defense attorneys, prosecutors, federal courts, and agency officials.
  • Develop knowledge of Bureau of Prisons policies and practices for court representation.
  • Handle adjudication of administrative tort claims.
  • Participate in correctional responsibilities such as custody and supervision of inmates.

Requirements

  • J.D. degree from an accredited institution.
  • Active member of the bar in any U.S. jurisdiction.
  • At least one year of post-J.D. legal or relevant experience.
  • Experience in correctional law is preferred but not required.

  • Prior experience in correctional law is desired.
