About the position
The Attorney within the Appeals & Protests Unit provides legal advice and representation for the Arizona Department of Revenue in contested tax matters and appealable agency actions before the Office of Administrative Hearings. This role involves working with various tax issues including Transaction Privilege Tax, Luxury Tax, Withholding Tax, and more, requiring strong legal expertise and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and representation in contested tax matters.
- Prepare and present cases before the Office of Administrative Hearings.
- Research and analyze relevant case law, statutes, and administrative rules.
- Draft legal briefs and memoranda on complex legal issues.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
- Collaborate with team members while also working autonomously.
Requirements
- Doctor of Jurisprudence degree (J.D.) from an A.B.A. accredited law school.
- Valid license to practice law in the State of Arizona or ability to become an active member within 12 months.
- 2 years of experience practicing law, preferably with tax-related issues.
- Strong verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications.
