About the position

The Attorney-Child Support Services position encompasses various levels (I to V) within the Sacramento County Department of Child Support Services. This role involves performing professional legal work related to the establishment, modification, and enforcement of family support obligations. Attorneys in this position will handle civil legal work, including case preparation and court presentations, while working under varying levels of supervision based on their experience and skill level.

Responsibilities

  • Perform civil legal work related to family support orders.
  • Prepare cases and documents for court presentation.
  • Establish and enforce family support obligations for the County and State.
  • Manage a high volume caseload effectively.
  • Conduct legal research and develop legal arguments.
  • Supervise and motivate support staff to assist in legal processes.
  • Collaborate with local family law bench and bar.

Requirements

  • Active member in good standing of the California State Bar.
  • Valid California Driver's License, Class 'C'.
  • Knowledge of civil law and procedure, especially family law and debt collection.
  • Ability to manage a high volume caseload and prioritize tasks.
  • Experience in legal research and analysis.
