About the position

In this opportunity as an Attorney Editor, you will be responsible for providing legal interpretation through research, analysis, and writing to support the development and maintenance of information across various media formats. Your role will involve creating editorial enhancements that help customers understand the context and developments of the law, classifying legal information through headnotes and other text, and ensuring that statutory text is maintained accurately by analyzing and integrating enacted legislation. You will also review content rendered as print or electronic products to ensure completeness and accuracy. As part of your editorial responsibilities, you will meet publishing schedules and quality standards, adhere to editorial style guidelines for the department and individual jurisdictions, and verify your own work as well as that of others to ensure accuracy and completeness. This role will require you to develop legal knowledge and skills training as necessary to stay current on legal trends and developments relevant to your editorial responsibilities. In addition to your individual contributions, you will participate in team meetings, prioritize your own work and that of others, and engage in the employee evaluation process, which includes both wider feedback and self-evaluation. To be effective in your role, you will need to develop a thorough understanding of Thomson Reuters Legal publications and products related to your responsibilities, as well as those of competitors. You will also be expected to demonstrate competence in company-specific systems necessary for performing job functions, including proficiency in Westlaw navigation and online research tools.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • J.D. degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills
  • Exceptional editorial judgment and attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, organize, and communicate complex legal material
  • Understanding of editorial production process and requirements
  • Skilled in the use of personal computers and familiarity with word processing and online applications
  • Ability to prioritize tasks/projects
  • Able to work successfully in a collaborative or team environment
  • Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with all contacts, both in and outside Thomson Reuters.
