About the position
Our client, a small law firm in Morristown, NJ, is seeking an associate attorney to join their tax/trusts and estates department. This role involves working closely with high-net-worth clients to provide comprehensive estate planning services, including the creation of complex wills and trusts, and advising on tax implications. The firm prides itself on its collaborative culture and innovative approach, making it a cost-effective alternative to larger firms.
Responsibilities
- Working with complex wills and trusts (30-40-page long trusts & wills)
- Assisting clients in creating wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents to ensure their wishes are carried out after death.
- Guiding trustees in the proper management and distribution of trust assets according to the terms of the trust.
- Advising clients on the tax implications of estate planning decisions and helping minimize estate and inheritance taxes.
- Representing clients in disputes related to wills, trusts, or estates, including will contests and trust litigation.
Requirements
- 3-10 years' experience highly preferred in T&E or tax, but they are open to training someone.
- JD OR LLM in taxation from an accredited law school also highly preferred.
- Excellent academic credentials.
- Active state bar license in New Jersey.
- Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize effectively.
