About the position

We are seeking an experienced Attorney/Lawyer to join a collegial firm in Walnut Creek, California. The role involves representing clients in various legal matters, including construction defect claims, general real estate litigation, and third-party breach of contract claims. The attorney will be responsible for managing a high volume of cases, conducting legal research, and preparing legal documents while ensuring compliance with legal standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prosecute complex, multi-party construction defect claims
  • Handle third-party liability claims arising from contract disputes with vendors
  • Conduct written discovery, take and defend depositions, and participate in trials and arbitrations
  • Conduct in-depth research on laws, legal precedents, and regulations relevant to cases or client matters
  • Meet with clients to understand their legal needs, provide advice, and offer solutions based on the law
  • Prepare legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and agreements and ensure all required legal documents are filed correctly and on time
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, including trials, court hearings, arbitration, and mediations
  • Formulate strategies for litigation, considering all potential outcomes and approaches
  • Oversee the discovery process, gathering evidence, and exchanging relevant documents with opposing counsel

Requirements

  • Must hold a valid license to practice law in California
  • Proficient in Briefing, Civil Litigation, Complaint Handling, Trial Preparation, Depositions, Draft Motions, and Arguing Motions
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a high volume of cases from inception through resolution
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and court personnel
  • Excellent research skills and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must exhibit strong ethical standards and integrity
  • Demonstrated understanding of law, legal procedures, and court system
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Proficiency in using legal research software and other relevant computer applications
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to resolve disputes
  • Excellent writing skills for drafting briefs, correspondence, and other legal documents
  • Must be able to adhere to strict deadlines and handle pressure
  • Proven ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide appropriate legal solutions
