About the position

We are seeking experienced Senior and Associate Attorneys with a minimum of 4 years of workers' compensation experience for a remote position at a leading defense law firm based in Oakland, CA. The role involves managing the legal defense of workers' compensation cases, collaborating with insurance companies, employers, and third-party administrators, and requires a valid California Bar license.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an advocate for insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insured employers.
  • Prepare and handle client correspondence.
  • Create legal pleadings and negotiate settlements for workers' compensation cases.
  • Appear in court, manage calendar, and conduct depositions and cross-examinations of medical professionals.
  • Negotiate lien claims and actively manage cases.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to legal assistants for effective case support.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, co-workers, and vendors.
  • Participate in marketing events to foster new and existing client relationships.
  • Review and work on files, input case information into PracticeMaster and billing software.
  • Meet deadlines for client correspondence and attend client file reviews.
  • Deliver training seminars on evolving workers' compensation case law for clients.
  • Stay up-to-date on current knowledge of workers' compensation case law.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of recent experience in workers' compensation law (Required).
  • California Bar license (Required).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience on the plaintiff side of workers' compensation cases.
