About the position

Skyworks is seeking an experienced Audio Applications Engineer to join our dedicated team of world-class engineers focused on building the next generation of Analog System on Chips (ASoCs). This position is integral to our Application Engineering team, where you will validate new System on Chips (SOCs) that incorporate embedded software, analog and digital circuits, and systems for audio and wireless applications. As an Applications Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and enhancing silicon system application systems, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. In this role, you will conduct thorough testing of silicon in a laboratory environment, utilizing Audio Precision or similar test equipment to take precise measurements. You will analyze test data to confirm that our products meet the target technical specifications outlined in the datasheets. Additionally, you will be tasked with writing test documents, scripts, and firmware to automate testing processes as much as possible. Your responsibilities will also include writing and reviewing datasheets and application notes, as well as reviewing customer designs and debugging hardware issues. Collaboration is key in this position; you will work closely with SOC designers, product engineers, and other team members to define, develop, and execute application tests. You will also engage with cross-functional teams in the lab to understand and troubleshoot chip issues. Responsibilities

  • Testing the silicon for the intended applications in the lab.
  • Taking measurements using the Audio Precision or similar test equipment.
  • Analyzing the test data and confirming the target technical specs for the datasheets.
  • Writing test documents, scripts, and sometimes firmware to automate as much testing as possible.
  • Writing and reviewing the datasheets and Application Notes.
  • Reviewing customer designs as well as debugging the hardware.
  • Interacting with customers and presenting demos.
  • Working closely with SOC designers, product engineers, and other team members to define, develop, and execute application tests.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams in the lab to understand and debug chip issues.

Requirements

  • Proven track record in system application with mixed-signal devices.
  • 8+ years (BSEE) or 6+ years (MSEE) of relevant industry experience, ideally in the field of audio.
  • Understanding of digital audio principles.
  • Experience in producing detailed technical reports and documentation.
  • Professional, open, and highly self-motivated attitude.
  • Hands-on lab interest/experience.
  • Experience with Audio Precision Test Equipment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of switching power circuits or amplifiers is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in schematic capture and PCB design.
  • Skilled in software and firmware development (including Python and/or Labview).
  • Proven track record in silicon.
  • Industry experience in Radio Frequency (RF).
