About the position
The Audio Editor/Producer position at Illinois State University is designed for students who are eager to gain hands-on experience in audio production within a professional radio station environment. As an Audio Production Intern, you will primarily assist the WGLT staff in producing content for our daily newsmagazine show, Sound Ideas, and our daily podcast, The Leadoff. This role is integral to the station's operations, as you will be involved in preparing individual story segments for use on the NPR App, which serves as our station's primary listening platform. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to produce various promotional materials for WGLT, enhancing your skills in audio editing and production. The position also includes routine involvement in promo production and other special projects under the supervision of the Program Director. This internship is an excellent opportunity for students to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting, develop their audio production skills, and contribute to the creation of engaging content for our audience. The work hours for this position are variable, allowing for flexibility in scheduling to accommodate your academic commitments. Responsibilities
- Assist WGLT staff with producing content for the daily newsmagazine show Sound Ideas.
- Prepare individual story segments for the NPR App.
- Produce various promotional materials for WGLT.
- Participate in promo production and special projects under the supervision of the Program Director.
Requirements
- Enrollment in or completion of COM 162/Intro to Radio, CTK 240, or similar experience.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Adobe Audition or comparable audio editing software.
