About the position

The Audio Engineer at Nebraska Public Media is responsible for independent audio acquisition and mixing, including studio and field recording. This role requires a strong understanding of audio engineering principles and the ability to create an audio aesthetic that supports various media productions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform independent audio acquisition and mixing for studio and field recordings.
  • Conduct single and multi-camera EFP audio acquisition.
  • Handle remote A-1 and A-2 audio tasks.
  • Execute audio-only field recording and sound reinforcement mixing.
  • Engage in basic non-linear audio editing.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in electronic media production, audio engineering, or a related field.
  • One year of audio production experience, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of industry standard procedures and techniques in audio production.
  • Highly developed critical listening skills for audio aesthetic application.
  • Proficiency in non-linear audio finishing systems and multi-track recording and mixing.
  • Ability to design audio systems and procedures within program budgets and deadlines.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
