We are seeking a full-time Audio Field Service Engineer in the Houston, TX area. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical support, installation, and training for Garmin's audio offerings. You will work closely with boat OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers), RV (Recreational Vehicle) OEMs, OEM dealers, and installing dealers. Your primary focus will be to become highly knowledgeable in the specifications, capabilities, and operation of Garmin products, particularly Garmin audio products. You will also need to be well-versed in boat systems, automotive electrical systems, and the operations of Marine OEMs. As an Audio Field Service Engineer, you will travel to customer facilities to provide regular on-site support for Marine or RV installations. This includes training customers on the correct installation, calibration, setup, and operation of Garmin audio products, as well as creating written procedures for these processes. You will assist in troubleshooting any problems with Garmin audio products and will be responsible for creating regular monthly reports on the support provided. Additionally, you may accompany Sales personnel on OEM and dealer sales calls and assist in specifying Garmin audio products for sales quotes. Your role will also involve answering customer and installer technical inquiries regarding Garmin audio products, monitoring, documenting, and reporting failure trends in Garmin audio equipment, and identifying and recommending improvements in Garmin audio products, documentation, and procedures. You will review owner's manuals, installation manuals, and maintenance manuals for completeness and technical accuracy, ensuring that areas likely to be misinterpreted are addressed. Communication with Product Support and Warranty will be essential to identify problems occurring in the field and to relay these issues and solutions back to the Field Service Engineer Team. You will gather and communicate new product information, including setup and product specifications, as required. It is crucial to respect and observe the rules and policies of the OEM while onsite and to maintain a professional and courteous demeanor with all OEM associates. You will provide on-site support for Garmin audio installations and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment, verify reported defective products at the customer's facility, and train customer associates in the installation and operation of Garmin audio equipment and related items. Maintaining communication with Garmin headquarters, including documenting and completing reports on the work performed and reporting failures and tracking trends, will be part of your responsibilities.
