About the position

The Audio Visual Design Engineer (CAD) at Paladin Technologies is responsible for preparing, organizing, and presenting detailed design documents to meet project delivery and close-out requirements. This role collaborates closely with Systems Designers/Engineers and the Project Management team to ensure clear communication of technical deliverables and the suitability of product offerings within client environments. The position requires a strong focus on detail, quality of work, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detail design documents during the project execution cycle, including AV drawings, wire pull schedules, plot plans, elevation drawings, and bills of material.
  • Coordinate with the architectural team and other design professionals.
  • Produce AV network architecture diagrams and perform power and heat consumption calculations under the guidance of systems designers and engineers.
  • Create AV as-built drawings and technical close-out documents in collaboration with technicians, subcontractors, project managers, and design stakeholders.
  • Maintain documentation in a current and professional state throughout contract durations.
  • Work closely with engineers and technicians to develop robust designs and standardized documentation packages.
  • Take direction from project managers and engineers promptly and enthusiastically.
  • Manage time effectively to prioritize projects, tasks, and meetings.
  • Adhere to Paladin Technologies' documentation standards.
  • Identify and document processes to support design efficiency and scalability.
  • Develop productive relationships with clients and key stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of drafting and design experience in IT, instrumentation and controls, electronics, or security industries.
  • Post-secondary education in Electronics, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Ability to create aesthetically pleasing and accessible drawings.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam Revu, IP networks, low voltage electronics, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong understanding of physical security and technology industries.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Revit and BIM360.
  • Field experience in a construction environment.
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Construction Management, or Engineering.
