About the position

At AVI Systems, we are at the forefront of technology integration, and we are looking for an experienced Audio-Visual Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in New York, NY. This role is pivotal in providing technical expertise to support the architecture, installation, and planning of audio, video, and control solutions for a diverse range of clients across business, government, healthcare, education, and entertainment sectors. As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that our audiovisual systems are designed to meet the specific needs of our customers, integrating various hardware and software components into a cohesive solution. Your responsibilities will include completing high-quality documentation that adheres to our Technical Services Standards. This documentation will encompass CAD drawings, system descriptions, equipment research, selection, custom product design, and system integration. You will also be tasked with researching and analyzing the capabilities of available hardware and software options to ensure that we are utilizing the best technology for our clients. Throughout the implementation process, you will support projects and collaborate with our team to ensure successful execution. This position requires a strong foundation in design engineering, particularly in the audiovisual field, and a passion for technology. You will be expected to prepare, understand, and interpret advanced single-line diagrams, architectural, construction, and electrical drawings. Additionally, knowledge of project financial reports and the ability to control costs in the design and management of projects is essential. Your ability to read engineering schematics and communicate design intent will be crucial in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise to support the architecture, installation, and planning of audio, video, and control solutions.
  • Complete documentation with a high degree of quality and follow Technical Services Standards, including CAD drawings, system descriptions, and equipment research.
  • Research and analyze the capabilities of available hardware and software options.
  • Design audiovisual systems that integrate various hardware and software components to meet customer needs.
  • Support projects and the team throughout the implementation process.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of Design Engineering experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience in the service and installation of audio, video, and presentation systems.
  • Knowledgeable of control systems (Crestron, QSC, Extron, AMX) and DSP platforms (Biamp, QSC, Clearone, BSS).
  • Ability to prepare, understand, and interpret advanced single-line diagrams, architectural, construction, and electrical drawings.
  • Knowledge of project financial reports and the ability to control costs in the design and management of projects.
  • Ability to read engineering schematics and communicate design intent.

Nice-to-haves

  • CTS and CTS-D certifications are a plus, but not required with the right experience.
  • Any other industry-related certifications or training (e.g., Crestron, Extron, Biamp, QSC, Shure) are also a plus.
