About the position

The Audio Visual Design Engineer will be a key member of the Engineering Design team at a top Engineering Consulting Firm, focusing on technology planning projects that encompass Telecom, AV, and Security systems. This role involves collaborating with clients, manufacturers, and design team members to prepare construction documentation and ensure the proper installation of technology infrastructure during the project construction phase.

Responsibilities

• Work on technology planning projects including Telecom, AV & Security.
• Prepare construction documentation for each project.
• Verify proper installation of all technology infrastructure equipment during the project construction phase.
• Make determinations on project construction budgets and review bid documents.
• Oversee the project bidding and project administration phase.
• Make vendor recommendations.

Requirements

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited 4-year institution.
• Minimum of 7 years professional experience in designing and drawing AV and security systems.
• Knowledge of AV and security systems including flow diagrams, rack elevations, and logical diagrams.
• Hands-on experience with creating AV plans, engineering schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Knowledge of IT infrastructure including cable plant (horizontal & backbone), telecommunication room design, and pathways.
• Familiarity with AV, Security, and BICSI standards required.
• Experience with CAD & BIM software including AutoCAD & REVIT.
• CTS-Certified Technology Specialist, RCDD, and architectural drafting background a plus.
