About the position

The Audio-Visual Design Engineer at AVI is responsible for providing technical expertise in the architecture, installation, and planning of audio, video, and control solutions. This role involves creating high-quality documentation, including CAD drawings and system descriptions, and ensuring that audiovisual systems are designed to meet specific customer needs. The engineer will support projects throughout the implementation process, working closely with the team to deliver integrated solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise to support the architecture, installation, and planning of audio, video, and control solutions.
  • Complete documentation with a high degree of quality and follow Technical Services Standards.
  • Create CAD drawings including flows, plans, elevations, and details.
  • Conduct equipment research, selection, custom product design, and system integration.
  • Research and analyze the capabilities of available hardware and software options.
  • Design audiovisual systems that integrate various hardware and software components to meet customer needs.
  • Support projects and the team throughout the implementation process.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of Design Engineering experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience in the service and installation of audio, video, and presentation systems.
  • Knowledgeable of control systems (Crestron, QSC, Extron, AMX) and DSP platforms (Biamp, QSC, Clearone, BSS).
  • Ability to prepare, understand, and interpret advanced single-line diagrams, architectural, construction, and electrical drawings.
  • Knowledge of project financial reports and the ability to control costs in the design and management of projects.
  • Ability to read engineering schematics and communicate design intent.

Nice-to-haves

  • CTS and CTS-D certifications are a plus, but not required with the right experience.
  • Any other industry-related certifications or training (e.g., Crestron, Extron, Biamp, QSC, Shure) are also a plus.
