About the position

The Audio Visual Engineer position at National Capitol Contracting involves supporting the NIH by leading and modernizing AV projects. The role requires close collaboration with the Technical Program Manager and government teams to ensure readiness across various AV systems. The engineer will facilitate events, manage technical execution, and oversee a team of AV technicians, all while benefiting from extensive training opportunities and exposure to advanced communication technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with technical event management across multiple buildings and conference centers, supporting dedicated technicians and government organizers.
  • Generate and maintain system wide technical documentation.
  • Oversee technical execution of high-profile meetings.
  • Lead a team of contract AV Technicians.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Audiovisual, Engineering/IT, Radio/Television, or Computer Science, or 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience managing AV infrastructure for public-facing events, conventions, or entertainment facilities.
  • Experience with Crestron, AMX, QSC or a combination of these systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting audiovisual equipment including Direct view LED walls, control devices, switchers, scalers, wireless mics, lighting controllers, and touch recognition systems.
  • Experience fabricating and installing audiovisual systems.
  • Proven track record in managing on-site technicians with exceptional troubleshooting abilities for complex technical issues.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills in a multicultural environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Infocomm Certification: Certified Technology Specialist (CTS), Certified Technology Specialist Design (CTS-D), Certified Technology Specialist Installation (CTS-I).
  • AMX Control Certifications.
  • QSC Q-sys Certifications.
  • Crestron Control Certifications.
  • Digital signal processing in live environments.
  • Live & Studio audio experience including setup, mixing, and recording.
  • Experience troubleshooting & managing IP networks.
  • Ability to read and generate technical documentation, drawings/blueprints; CAD experience.
  • Experience with multiple computer operating systems.
  • IT Support (Network and Systems Engineering).
  • Experience troubleshooting complex hybrid meetings (Zoom, MS Teams, Webex).
  • Experience with streaming media.
  • Experience supporting Windows, asset management, and remote control of AV devices.
  • Experience working with government contracting.
