About the position

The Audio Visual Field Engineer position at IES Communications involves the installation and maintenance of commercial audio/visual systems. The role requires a well-rounded individual with strong industry knowledge, proficiency in reading AV signal one-line drawings, and the ability to interface professionally with clients. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring installations meet industry standards and best practices, while also contributing to process improvements within the company.

Responsibilities

• Installation of Commercial Audio Visual systems including AV cable pulling, rack building, and pre-wiring.
• Hanging projector screens and building structures to support AV equipment according to safety standards.
• Installing speakers, flat panel displays, cameras, and ceiling/tabletop microphones.
• Soldering AV connectors and terminating shielded category cable.
• Conducting expert-level troubleshooting of AV systems and structured cabling.
• Conducting terminations in accordance with system diagrams and specifications.
• Working with projectors, video conferencing systems, screen displays, and computer controls.
• Providing feedback for improvements in the installation process and performing other assigned responsibilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalency required; formal education in electronics or a related field preferred.
• Excellent experience with audiovisual or other electro-mechanical installation techniques, or field servicing.
• Crestron programming experience is required.
• Experience with video conferencing systems such as Polycom, Tandberg, Cisco, or LifeSize preferred.
• Ability to read schematic diagrams and drawings.
• Proficiency in PC and networking.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of commercial construction standards is strongly preferred.
• Good experience in the AV residential field, including home theaters and smart house designs.
