About the position

The AV Field Engineer or AV Tech II position at IES Communications in San Diego involves the installation and maintenance of commercial Audio/Visual systems. The role requires a well-rounded individual with strong industry knowledge, capable of interpreting AV signal drawings and understanding system functions. The candidate will interface with clients and must maintain a professional appearance while adhering to industry standards and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Installation of Commercial Audio Visual systems including AV cable pulling and rack building/pre-wiring.
• Hanging projector screens and building structures to support AV equipment.
• Installing speakers, flat panel displays, cameras, and microphones.
• Soldering AV connectors and terminating shielded category cable.
• Conducting troubleshooting of AV systems and structured cabling.
• Conducting terminations in accordance with system diagrams.
• Working with projectors, video conferencing systems, and computer controls.
• Providing feedback for installation process improvements.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalency required.
• Formal education in electronics or a related field preferred.
• Excellent experience with audiovisual or electro-mechanical installation techniques.
• Crestron programming experience required.
• Experience with video conferencing systems such as Polycom, Tandberg, Cisco, or LifeSize preferred.
• Ability to read schematic diagrams and drawings.
• Proficient in PC & Networking.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in the AV residential field including home theaters and structured wiring.
• Knowledge of commercial construction standards.
