About the position

The Audio Visual Field Engineer at IES Communications is responsible for the installation and maintenance of commercial audio/visual systems. This role requires a strong understanding of industry standards and best practices, as well as the ability to read and interpret AV signal drawings. The engineer will interface with clients and ensure installations meet safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Installation of commercial audio visual systems including AV cable pulling, rack building, and pre-wiring.
  • Hanging projector screens and building structures to support AV equipment.
  • Installing speakers, flat panel displays, cameras, and microphones.
  • Soldering AV connectors and terminating shielded category cable.
  • Conducting troubleshooting of AV systems and structured cabling.
  • Conducting terminations in accordance with system diagrams.
  • Working with projectors, video conferencing systems, and computer controls.
  • Providing feedback for installation process improvements.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency required; formal education in electronics or related field preferred.
  • Experience with audiovisual or electro-mechanical installation techniques or field servicing.
  • Proficiency in Crestron programming is required.
  • Experience with video conferencing systems such as Polycom, Tandberg, Cisco, or LifeSize preferred.
  • Ability to read schematic diagrams and drawings.
  • Experience in the AV residential field, including home theaters and structured wiring.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of commercial construction standards.
  • Experience with manufacturers and technology platforms such as Crestron, Biamp, and Clearone.
