About the position

The Audio Visual Engineer I is responsible for the setup and maintenance of audiovisual solutions, providing technical support, and assisting with the design and implementation of AV solutions. They work closely with senior engineers and Grainger Technology teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of AV systems, while also staying in step with new technologies and industry best practices. This role is pivotal in shaping the audio-visual landscape at Grainger, particularly in the context of hybrid work environments. As an Audio Visual Engineer I, you will be the go-to person for maintaining and updating AV infrastructure, ensuring that all systems run smoothly. You will deploy AV solutions tailored for the hybrid work era, recognizing that one size does not fit all. Troubleshooting will be a key part of your role, whether that means solving issues independently or knowing when to escalate them. You will act as the customer advocate, ensuring that root causes of incidents are identified and remediated effectively. Additionally, you will keep our AV hardware lifecycle fresh and up-to-date, documenting processes and configurations to chart our AV journey. Coordination with vendors and team members will be essential to deliver top-notch solutions with speed and clarity. You will also support and innovate on projects, contributing to the continuous improvement of our AV systems. Monitoring AV analytics and tickets will be part of your responsibilities, helping to keep us ahead of changes in our environment. Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update AV infrastructure to ensure smooth operation.
  • Deploy AV solutions tailored for hybrid work environments.
  • Troubleshoot AV issues and escalate when necessary.
  • Act as a customer advocate to identify and remediate root causes of incidents.
  • Keep AV hardware lifecycle current and up-to-date.
  • Document AV processes and configurations.
  • Coordinate with vendors and team members to deliver solutions efficiently.
  • Support and innovate on AV projects for continuous improvement.
  • Monitor AV analytics and tickets to stay ahead of changes.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of experience architecting, deploying, and supporting AV solutions.
  • Experience with Cisco Codecs, Cisco Control Hub and CVI, Microsoft Teams and Teams Rooms solutions, Crestron Airmedia, Barco Clickshare, Brightsign, Appspace, and other common industry technology.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact with all levels of Grainger employees.
  • Flexibility of varying work hours and ability to work under pressure with last-minute changes.
  • Willingness to travel as required for project support.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform in a changing environment while facing critical deadlines.
  • AVIXA CTS, CTS-I or CTS-D certification preferred.
  • Basic computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • High level of familiarity with audiovisual systems functionality, equipment, and platforms.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for four hours or longer.
  • Must be able to utilize ladders up to 12 feet.

  • AVIXA CTS, CTS-I or CTS-D certification preferred.
