About the position

The Audio Visual Sales Engineer position at VersaTech involves collaborating with clients to design and deliver innovative audio-visual solutions. The role requires a strong technical background in AV technologies, sales experience, and the ability to work closely with various teams to ensure client satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing proposals, managing vendor relationships, and providing pre-sales technical support while maintaining a focus on customer needs and project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their AV needs and design custom solutions.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Design teams to create accurate AV solutions.
  • Support Sales and Solutions leaders by developing proposals, quotes, and contracts.
  • Engage vendors and partners to obtain quotes and negotiate pricing for AV components.
  • Perform site surveys as required.
  • Prepare detailed Bills of Materials (BOM) for AV projects.
  • Develop and maintain pricing models for competitive pricing structures.
  • Source equipment and negotiate terms with external vendors and partners.
  • Maintain understanding of product pricing, market trends, and supply chain logistics.
  • Serve as a liaison between Sales, Engineering, and Delivery teams.
  • Partner with Delivery team to ensure efficient implementation of systems.
  • Provide input on product offerings and customer needs to internal stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on AV technologies and industry trends.
  • Provide pre-sales technical support and system demonstrations.
  • Work with engineering team to ensure solutions are feasible and scalable.
  • Develop and maintain long-term client relationships in the DC/Baltimore region.
  • Act as a technical advisor throughout the sales cycle.
  • Provide post-sales support and troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners for project deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, information technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in AV sales, design, or engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of AV systems including video conferencing and sound systems.
  • Proven experience with pricing strategies and BOM creation.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical proficiency in AV system design and integration.
  • Strong collaborative skills across multiple departments.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
  • Strong vendor negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Willingness to travel within the DC/Baltimore area.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with AV industry standards such as AVIXA and certifications (CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I).
  • Experience with design software (AutoCAD, Visio, etc.).
