About the position

The Audio-Visual Counselor at AstroCamp is responsible for supporting the camp's audio-visual needs during summer events. This role involves collaborating with counseling and program staff to create professional-quality experiences through effective use of sound, lighting, and visual equipment. The position requires a blend of technical skills and creativity to transform ideas into reality, ensuring that all camp events are executed flawlessly.

Responsibilities

• Assist counseling and program staff with audio, visual, and property needs for summer camp events.
• Set up and take down AV equipment for various camp events including arrival days, crew nights, beach parties, and final night ceremonies.
• Produce props and other items needed for camp events, including ordering supplies and overseeing small construction projects.
• Act as a Host/DJ/MC at camp events as needed and approved by the Summer Camp Director.
• Collect film footage for future summer camp marketing material and consult with the Summer Program Director weekly.
• Maintain and care for all AV equipment, including computers, cameras, PA systems, and power tools.
• Train with counselors in all categories pertaining to camper interaction and engage with campers during recreational activities.

Requirements

• Must have completed one full year of college.
• Must be at least two years older than the oldest camper age group (15 years old).
• Past experience working with youth.
• Strong communication and human relations skills.
• Ability to accept supervision and guidance and assist in activities where needed.
• Desire to live and work in a remote camp community.
• Ability to supervise children in related activities.

Nice-to-haves

• Certification in lifeguard training (American Red Cross).
• First aid and CPR certification.
